2024 Year in Review
2024 was the year of survival. The year was a major test to see if the business could survive amongst health concerns, a reduced workload, and a reduced team. Along the way, we endured, working with businesses both large and small, and even made the time to launch a few charitable campaigns. Read on for the happenings and events that impacted 2024.
2024 Happenings
In April, we worked with Bonafide Media & PR on an Asian Heritage Month campaign. The campaign showcased and supported local Asian-owned businesses.
In June, we made a very tough decision and reduced the team back to two designers. Lianne also had the opportunity to judge the RGD Student Awards!
In August, we celebrated our 9 Year biz-aversary! In a blog post, we shared our top nine moments from the last nine years!
Lianne went back to work in September after a year of chemotherapy treatments
After major health concerns, a reduced workload, and a reduced team, the studio somehow survived!!
2024 Projects & Clients
Lianne’s workload was cut in half due to her health and chemotherapy treatments. We continued to make decisions based on time and value; choosing to take on less clients and larger projects. In the fall when Lianne came back to work, the world increased drastically.
Our projects of the year ranged from major campaigns and reports for larger businesses, to packaging, branding, and websites for small and startup businesses. We had some new and wonderful opportunities to illustrate and design apparel and design infographics.
Charitable Work
Throughout the year, we worked on a few different charitable initiatives; we sponsored the Women & Wealth Gala for the third straight time. We continued the relaunch of the We Cross Cancer Collection for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. We also launched two new collections: The 4Jasper Collection for Jasper Wildfire Relief and the Niginan Housing Collection to support housing programs and initiatives for Indigenous people living in Edmonton.
Lianne’s Health
Lianne continued with her chemotherapy treatments until July. Along the way, she faced a multitude of complications and infections. This caused Lianne to put more faith and trust in her team. When treatments ended and she was free of cancer, she took some time to travel and slowly immerse herself back to work. Come September, the studio was overwhelmed with work, new clients, and new partnerships. Lianne continues to gain more and more energy every day to continue to run the business.
The biggest accomplishment over the year was growing and keeping the business alive during treatments.
What’s Next?
Today, we are happy to be alive and happy to continue doing what we do best; working with businesses to bring their branding, packaging, and design visions to life. We aren’t making any lofty goals as the primary goal is to slowly get the business back on track to where it was before Lianne was diagnosed with cancer.
We are incredibly grateful to our colleagues and clients who have been there through an incredibly tough year. Our studio would not still be running if it wasn’t for your patience, support, and understanding.
